|School discipline is an equity issue.|
|A student wanted to play a senior prank, so he stashed an inflatable doll in a bathroom stall. Upon hearing there was a “blow-up doll” in the school, administrators called the bomb squad. Instead of getting laughs, the student was expelled and now faces up to 8 years in jail for a miscommunication.
School discipline is getting out of hand. More and more students are being kicked out of the classroom, suspended and expelled for no good reason.
Students of color and low-income students are far more likely to be disciplined than their wealthy white peers.
Come to Kent and tell your stories. We’ve got state legislators who are ready to listen.
